On Friday, the Azimio la Umoja coalition will organize a significant homecoming rally to welcome their leader Raila Odinga, who is returning from his journey abroad.
This event will be the precursor to the planned anti-government protests scheduled for next week. Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi disclosed this information in a statement on Wednesday.
Raila Odinga is scheduled to arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after his one-week visit to the United Arab Emirates.
On the same day, he will make his way to the People’s Baraza at Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra Constituency. It is expected that Odinga will address the nation during the rally.
Furthermore, Opiyo Wandayi revealed that the Kibra People’s Baraza would serve as a platform for peaceful mass action that is set to resume in Nairobi on May 2, 2023, as previously disclosed. He also urged supporters of the coalition’s pursuit of a just, fair, and democratic nation that prioritizes its citizens to attend the homecoming rally and the Kibra Baraza.
Additionally, he appealed to all attendees of both events to maintain peace and order, as has been done in the past.
The Azimio la Umoja coalition plans to divulge more details regarding the upcoming May events in the coming days and during the Kibra rally.
