Real Madrid and Manchester City draw 1-1 in Champions League semi-final

Real Madrid and Manchester City had a much-anticipated rematch after last season’s semi-final in the Champions League. The two teams entered the game with different moods, Real having poor performances in La Liga but an excellent record in this competition, while City enjoyed an unbeaten streak of 20 matches, winning 17 of them and have a chance to win both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

However, the final decision for the finalist would come after their match in England, as both teams scored a goal apiece, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Although the match’s display was not up to par with expectations, it remained an intriguing game with spells of dominance from both sides.

Vinicius and De Bruyne scored two fantastic goals, and both players’ personal qualities shone during the game. It was not the game for other players like Benzema, Valverde, Haaland, or Bernardo Silva. De Bruyne was also struggling initially, but his long-distance thunderbolt was enough to keep Pep Guardiola happy.

Manchester City started the game strongly, taking control of the ball from Real Madrid. Before Real’s goal, they had 70% of possession and four shots on target. However, in typical Real fashion, they managed to score from their first and only shot when Camavinga passed the ball to Vinicius Jr, who fired it from 20 meters into the net.

The second half saw Manchester City continue their dominance, with De Bruyne finally getting a chance to show his skills, but his shot was saved by Courtois. Real then put on the pressure, and De Bruyne’s rocket from 22 meters equalized and gave the visitors a chance to keep their unbeaten run.

The tempo slowed down after that, with only one real chance until the end when Tchouameni tried from a distance, but Ederson was attentive. Ancelotti made the first of his three substitutions in the 80th minute, while Guardiola opted not to make any changes.

The second leg will determine the first finalist of this year’s Champions League, and both teams have a chance to secure their spot.
