Zari Hassan, a well-known Ugandan socialite, has recently addressed allegations that she began dating Shakib Cham Lutaaya while he was working as a watchman for her late husband Ivan Ssemwanga.
During an interview with Ugandan media on May 4, 2023, Zari confirmed that she had previously dated Shakib but they later went their separate ways. However, they rekindled their romance in 2022 and got married soon after.
Zari emphasized that rumours about Shakib being employed as a watchman by Ivan Ssemwanga were entirely untrue, stating that Shakib never worked for Ivan or any of their companies. Zari also stressed the importance of setting the record straight regarding this matter.
On April 16, Zari and Shakib exchanged wedding vows in a private Nikah ceremony in Pretoria, South Africa. The couple had been dating for over ten months before deciding to tie the knot.
Their relationship became public in May 2022 when Zari travelled to Uganda to meet Shakib’s family. At the time, Zari spoke out against critics who criticized older women for dating or marrying younger men, pointing out the double standards surrounding older men marrying young women.
In December 2022, Shakib’s wife Nalule Shamirah Sembatya exposed him for cheating on her. However, Zari denied being a husband snatcher and labelled Shamirah a clout chaser. Despite the drama, Shakib and Zari remained committed to each other and shared photos of themselves enjoying time together on social media.
